Thor: Love and Thunder is set before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

We finally got somewhat of a hint, as to when the Guardians of the Galaxy would feature in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn answered the question to one of many Marvel fanatics on instagram…quite straight forward and to the point.

I honestly thought that the third installment of the Guardians would be before Thor: Love and Thunder, as this would somehow develop into an intricate story from there – along with the announced cast not featuring any of the Guardians. We know Thor is currently with the Guardians, so it’s possible all could obviously change into the Guardians being added into Thor, especially with most of them having had experience in the multiverse.

Gunn also apologised to Marvel fans via Twitter that he will be focusing on The Suicide Squad, before The Guardians of the Galaxy – but I still thought it would possibly be before the new Thor – so gutted.

We know that Natalie Portman will be the new Mighty Thor or as I prefer, “Lady Thor”. It will be very interesting to see what universe this story might unfold in and to what extent Hemsworth’s Thor would/could affect it.

There could also be a link to Loki possibly meddling around with the tesseract, which may influence how events pan out possibly. One thing is for sure, MCU phase 4 is looking fantastic with a plethora of movies as well as series to look forward to as a Marvel fanatic. However, I will reinforce that I am really sad that I will have to wait so long for Asgardians of the Galaxy 🙁

Thor: Love and Thunder are currently set for 5 November 2021. With Hemsworth returning as Thor along with Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster) and hopefully everyone’s favorite…Korg played by returning director, Taika Waititi himself in the previous film. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has no set date at the moment unfortunately but is confirmed by James Gunn to be in the pipeline soon, maybe in the back-end of Phase 4 or even the beginning of Phase 5.
