Star Wars mobile games have hit $1 billion in revenue
According to data from Sensor Tower, the Star Wars mobile games have now exceeded a billion dollars in revenue across the App Store and Google Play.
As you can see in the graph below the most profitable game is Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, which raised $ 924 million and is expected to exceed $ 1 billion in early 2020. Zynga’s Star Wars Commander follows with $ 93 million in revenue, while LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga, made $ 11 million.
It’s interesting to note that LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga is the only title not free-to-play, while the others are all free-to-play with invasive microtransactions, a sign that gamers never learn from this predatory behavior.
More interesting is the breakup of the revenue with 1st place going to the United States who spent $ 640 million on these games, in second-place Germany with only $66 million then the United Kingdom with $57 million.
In total, Star Wars games have been downloaded 273 million times, with Galaxy of Heroes in first place with 70 million downloads. In second place we find Angry Birds Star Wars of Rovio with 63 million downloads, while in third its sequel with 61 million downloads.
Until we stop using real money in games, microtransactions are here to stay 🙁
