Metroid Prime 4 Studio hires the former art director of Mirror’s Edge & Battlefield
Jhony Ljungstedt joins Retro Studios, the development team that is dealing with Metroid Prime 4 and were responsible for the first three games. Jhony Ljungstedt was the art director of the Swedish development team at DICE.
Ljungstedt has been in the industry for 18 years and has worked on games like Battlefield, Mirror’s Edge and Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
Just a bit of background on the development stage of Retro Studios, a few months ago, another highly experienced developer Kyle Hefley had joined Retro Studios. Kyle worked at 343 Industries on various models for Master Chief in Halo 4 and other characters in the fifth one.
After 18 years at DICE and EA, I’ve decided to leave the company to take a new challenge at Retro Studios. #retrostudios Looking forward to this adventure. To all my friends at DICE, I will miss you all!
Retro Studios released a job announcement for an art director in June 2019. So by the looks of it, Retro found their man and Jhony Ljungstedt will join the artistic team that will handle the next game in the Nintendo franchise.
So now that the creative team is taking shape we can expect a new Metroid Prime in early 2022 or late 2023.
Metroid Prime 4 will release on the Switch, however, no date has been set yet.
